Daniel P. Emkey was born and raised in Berks County, Pennsylvania. He attended Holy Name High School, then went on to study Criminal Justice at Alvernia College. During his time at college, he was part of Alpha Phi Sigma (the National Criminal Justice Honor Society), became an All-American Scholar, and was the president of the St. Thomas More Honor Society. After graduation, Daniel went on to study law at Widener University School of Law, where he participated in the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program, was a member of the Harrisburg Civil Law Clinic, and earned his Juris Doctor.
Passionate About His Work
Attorney Emkey has always had a fierce passion for justice and litigation, and decided to pursue a career in criminal law. He began at the Berks County District Attorney's office, where he served as the Assistant District Attorney. During this time, he focused his effort on prosecuting major cases in the courtroom, handling virtually hundreds of cases. Working with matters of felony gun and drug cases, rape, child sexual abuse, aggravated assault and burglary. During this time, he garnered a reputation for being not only singularly skilled and aggressive, but also highly compassionate.
Work in Private Practices
After significant experience in the District Attorney's office, Reading lawyer Daniel P. Emkey turned his attention to working in a private practice. He began work as defense attorney at the law firm of Sodomsky and Nigrini. During his time here, he worked on hundreds more cases all throughout the State of Pennsylvania.
In 2009, Attorney Emkey began his own private practice, where he is dedicated to putting his clients' needs first. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Furthermore, in 2008 he served as an adjunct professor at Alvernia College where he taught criminal law.
